5 Advanced English Books You MUST Use!
Hey guys, How’ ve you been?
Let’s talk about how to think in English, shall we?
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, then you have to check this post: http://bit.ly/2sXz8rD .I have several posts about how to think in English. Basically, I try to teach you techniques on how to do this and consequently improve your speaking and overall fluency. I also have many videos on YouTube about it. Check my channel and I’m sure you are going to like it. Ah, as usual, please leave me a comment telling me what you think about this post. Your opinion means a lot to me
Thinking in English is not impossible! This is the first you thing you need to know. However, there are things you need to do and the first one is: to dedicate yourself. Yes, without dedication it is hard to achieve pretty much anything in life.
Today I want to focus on one very important doubt students have when it comes to English and thinking in English. “My grammar is not good; will my English be bad too?” Not necessarily, however, It is important, to do something about it. The problem many will find is how to improve their grammar effectively.
Now, let’s focus on how to think in English: don’t let bad grammar stop you from trying. This is something you need to constantly remind yourself of. If you wait for the perfect English to start doing these activities, I’m sorry to break it to you, you are never gonna have it. Let’s be realistic, good is better than nothing. You need to accept your limits and find ways to change that. Needless to say, you need to start somewhere, even if your grammar is not that great, try to think in English or to speak English.
I always tell my students and friends: worse than making mistakes is not making any mistakes at all because you don’t try. If your grammar is not good enough, try to find ways to improve it.
Thinking in English takes time and planning
When you start doing this exercise, you need to plan! In the beginning, there is no other way to do it. But wait, Prix, what do you mean plan?
Grab a piece of paper and write key points of things you want to talk about. Ok, if you have a phone, use it. When I say “key points”, I really mean it, ok? You don’t need to write long sentences, just words that will help you remember what you want to think about. This will help you get prepared to think in English. That way when you start it, you don’t feel lost.
Writing key points will help you improve your grammar
This is the moment you can use in your favor! When you start planning what to think about, you can try to analyze what subjects are difficult and more importantly, why they are difficult. That way you can set aside some time and try to study that grammar point you find difficult. For example, you want to think about your “last weekend” but you can’t remember simple past. This is a great opportunity to review simple past before trying to think in English. Trying to find the verbs you are going to need is also a great way to prepare yourself. That’s why I started this post by saying you need to be dedicated. Dedication is key. The more dedicated you are, the easier you learn new things.
Bad grammar does not mean bad English.
Finally, as I said in the beginning, whether your English is good or bad depends not only on grammar but also on other aspects. If your grammar is weak you need to find ways to change that. Thinking in English is a wonderful opportunity for you to discover, to understand what your weakest spots are.
What do you think about this? Do you agree? Share your experience with me in the comments!
Thanks guys
Teacher Prix.
