Podcast: How To Improve Your Vocabulary And Speaking
Hey, guys,
Teacher Prix here with another Podcast. Today, I want to give you some vocabulary to talk about your personality. To do that, I will talk a little bit about me! At the end of this podcast, you will find a chart with adjectives and examples of phrases that can help you organize your ideas, ok? Now, here go!
Well, the first thing you will notice about me is that I’m very shy. However, I’m shy until you get to know me! Once you get to know me you will see I’m a goofball and will make you laugh.
I’m also very responsible and dedicated, but sometimes I can be lazy! I don’t like to clean my room or do the dishes.
I can be very sensitive or even dramatic sometimes. Oh well. On the other hand, I’m a very good friend. Listening to people is easy for me.
If you don’t know me well you may think I’m too serious, but that’s just on the outside!
Guys, this is a simple way to describe myself,
look at some expressions I used:
Well, the first thing you will notice about me
Once you get to know me
I’m also
I can be very
If you don’t know me well you may think…. But….
In English, it is important to connect ideas! That way it is easier to communicate. You can connect and contrast two ideas. For example, I’m shy BUT I like to listen to people.
I’m outgoing BUT I don’t like to go to parties
To help you, below the transcript there is a list of adjectives and possible explanations, ok? I hope this list helps you! Look at the list and repeat the words and expressions with me:
Happy – energetic – moody – determined – positive – calm – anxious – confident – crazy – emotional – relaxed – negative
Now that you know how to pronounce the adjectives correctly, let’s check some useful expressions from the chart, shall we?
To contrast: Contrast means you are going to give two different ideas and one will contrast, will be different from the other. I’m very… BUT sometimes I’m…
I’m very… ON THE OTHER HAND I’M
To add: these expressions can be used to add more information to your sentence.
I’m very… AND ALSO
I CAN ALSO BE…
Useful Expressions:
1. The first thing you will notice about me…
2. If you don’t know me well, you will think I’m… BUT…
3. Once you get to know me…
4. Let me think, I’m very…
5. I’m not sure, I think I’m….
6. I’m usually very…
Remember, these are only suggestions to help you organize your ideas. Listen to the podcast again and pay attention at how I organized my ideas to talk about my own personality. Then, try to do something similar, but change the adjectives according to your characteristics.
I hope you enjoyed today’s podcast. Now you know a little bit more about me. SO, I want to know more about you! Leave here in the comments 3 adjectives that best describe your personality! I’ll love to read it!
