Podcast: How To Improve Your Vocabulary And Speaking
Hey, guys! How are things?
Another podcast for you! The purpose of this podcast is to talk about more general things. I want to help you work on your listening and pronunciation. However, I want to do that in a simple way. I want to talk about general subjects. That way you can listen to different things and relax a little bit. At the end of the podcast, I will ask you questions about it, ok? You can leave your answers in the comments. I will make sure to read and correct them
Today, I would like to talk about my favorite TV shows. I absolutely love watching TV series. I’m always trying to find new series to watch. Lately, I feel like it is getting harder to find really good shows. I don’t know, maybe it is just me. Although I always say I like everything that is not always true!
The
first TV show I watched was Friends! As an English student, I loved it, everyday conversations, funny characters, quick episodes, American English, and so much more. It was perfect! Everything I needed to improve my English vocabulary was on that show! By the way, I totally recommend Friends if you are trying to improve your English for casual conversations.
While I was watching Friends, I started watching a new TV show. It was airing on an open channel in my country, so I decided to give it a try. I loved it! I think you know this show. It’s called “Supernatural”. Do you know it? Well, it basically tells the story of two brothers that hunt, as the name of the show says, supernatural things, monsters, demons, werewolves, vampires, etc. I fell in love with Dean Winchester (one of the characters). The show is not over yet. It is only on the 12th season, can you believe?
These were basically the two shows I watched when I started studying English. When I moved to Boston, I started watching more shows. That’s when I came across “Grey’s Anatomy”. I know it is a dramatic medical show. But what can I say, I love it! I love McDreamy! I still watch it! The show is not over yet and I feel like it is gonna take a long time for it to end.
I can’t really tell what attracts me in a TV show. The storyline is very important and needs to be consistent. It can’t be anything too crazy. The actors also need to be convincing. For example. I used to love “the Vampire Diaries”. However, I was not very happy with one of their most important characters. I didn’t feel she was a good actress. Because of that, I ended up stopping watching the show. Oh well.
I have recently watched “Westworld”. For this show, I have 3 words: OH MY GOD! This show is freaking amazing! It is a sci-fi show and I’m not really into sci-fi, but I was hooked by Westworld. The show is fantastic. The characters are surreal! The actors and actress’ performance is flawless! If you want to understand why I like this show so much, you have got to watch it. But I will give you a quick overview of the show:
Basically, the show happens a long way in the future. Westworld is a theme park, like Disney but It is the Old West! Humans can go there and relive the “west” period. They dress up as cowboys, have guns and all the park makes you forget the outside world. At this park, you will find the “hosts”. That’s the term used to describe the robots. But these robots are special. They look like humans, they have a memory, they have storylines, they are characters. They cry, laugh, tell jokes, fight, everything a human being does. But don’t worry, the robots, or as they say, the hosts, cannot kill humans. As you watch the show you will see how amazing it is as we discover how strong the hosts truly are.
I watch so many TV shows that it is hard to talk about all of them. I love 2 broke girls, younger, The big bang theory, How to get away with murder, Once upon a time, The Originals, The 100, and so many others. I believe watching TV shows is a wonderful way to improve your English.
Now I want to ask you a few questions:
What are the first TV shows I started watching?
What show did I start watching when I moved to Boston?
What show did I stop watching because the actress was not good?
That’s all for today folks! Let me know what you think in the comments! What other podcasts would you like to see here? What subjects? Let me know in the comments
Cheers!
