If your English is not improving, this post is for you!

Many English learners have this problem. They study, study and study… However, nothing changes.

Improving your English is a journey, so before you lose motivation here are a few things you need to ask yourself so that you can better understand why your English is not improving.

HOW LONG

How long have you been studying every day? Many English learners panic after studying every day for 2 or 3 weeks without having any good result. You need to have been studying every day for a decent amount of time before making any decision. If you have been studying every day for more than 3 months, then you can start analyzing what you are doing every day. This leads me to next item of this post

WHAT IS YOUR STUDY ROUTINE LIKE?

If you are studying every day but your English is not improving, it is time to analyze your routine. What do you study every day? What kind of exercises do you do?

Today, because of the internet and the easy access to informaiton, students have the false illusion they are studying, when in reality they are just passively listening and watching things without paying attention.

ACTIVE AND PASSIVE ROUTINE

THaving an active routine is important if you want to improve. The problem is that many English learners don’t know the difference between passive and active study routines. As I said in the previous point, if you are just listening and watching things while doing a million other things such as checking your phone, chatting with friends or even driving, you are not activetly engaged in the activity. You are passively engaged.

Passive study can be a great tool, but it is not enough. If you are studying every day and you’re not getting the results you want, check if your routine is more passive than active.

There are two more things you should ask yourself to understand why your English is not improving despite studying every day. I have a video where I talk about all the items above and two more. You can watch the video below

Have a great day
