3 Phrases to Show Excitement in English

Hey student! In this English lesson, I am going to show you 3 phrases to show excitement in English!

Are you ready? Here we go!

I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO

Basically, this expression means you are feeling pleased and or excited about something that is going to happen in the future or in the very near future. So, let’s say you are going to a party next weekend, and you feel excited about it. Here is what you can say:

I am looking forward to going to the party this weekend.

I am looking forward to Christmas this year

I am looking forward to meeting my friends this weekend

I look forward to seeing  my parents next weekend

PS: this expression can also be formally used at the end of emails. In this case, you mean to say you hope to hear from the person very soon.

I look forward to hearing from you.

I CAN’T WAIT TO/FOR

With this expression, you are very excited about something and feeling eager to do it or experience it. Check out some examples below:

I can’t wait to see you tonight

I can’t wait to go on vacation

I can’t wait for Christmas

I AM DYING TO…

It is the same idea as the others, you are very eager/excited to do something. Here are some examples

My friend is dying to try the new Japanese restaurant near the office.

I am dying to tell you all the details, but I can’t yet.

Peter is dying to meet you.

I also have a video lesson on Youtube where I talk a bit more about each expression. Check it out!

I hope you enjoy this lesson! Share it with your friends!
